What Invisalign can treat
Invisalign can treat crowding, gaps, crooked teeth and many bite problems in adults and teens. It's also often used before cosmetic work — straightening first can mean fewer veneers, or none.
At Perla we straighten teeth with clear aligners. At your consultation, Dr. Rodriguez will tell you whether they're right for your case.
How treatment works
Consultation and records
We examine your teeth and bite and take photos, X-rays and digital records of your teeth.
Your plan, before you start
Dr. Rodriguez plans the movement of your teeth step by step in Invisalign's software. If you'd like, you can see a 3D simulation of how your teeth are planned to move before you commit.
Wearing your aligners
You wear each set of aligners most of the day and night — about 20 to 22 hours — and take them out to eat, drink anything but water, and brush. You switch to the next set on the schedule Dr. Rodriguez gives you. Small tooth-colored attachments are often bonded to some teeth to help the aligners grip.
Check-ins
You come in at regular intervals so Dr. Rodriguez can check that your teeth are tracking the plan. If they need it, additional aligners are made to fine-tune the result.
Retainers
Teeth tend to drift back after any straightening. Wearing your retainers as directed is what keeps the result.
What makes Invisalign work
Wear time. Aligners only move teeth while they're in your mouth, so the results depend on wearing them as prescribed. People who keep them in, change them on schedule and come to their check-ins get the result they were planned for.
