Immediate dentures
Immediate dentures in Miami
If your remaining teeth need to come out, an immediate denture is made ahead of time and placed the same day — so you leave with teeth, and your gums heal under the denture.

What an immediate denture is
An immediate denture is made from impressions taken while your teeth are still in place. On the day your teeth are removed, the denture goes in right away. It protects the area while it heals and means you never go without teeth.
How it works
Planning
We examine your teeth and gums, take X-rays and impressions, and record your bite. Together we choose the shape and shade of your new teeth.
Extraction day
Your teeth are removed under local anesthesia, with oral or IV sedation if you'd like, and the denture is placed straight away.
The first days
Leave the denture in for the first 24 hours unless we tell you otherwise — it works like a bandage. You'll come back the next day so we can check the fit and ease any sore spots.
Healing and relines
As your gums heal over the next few months they shrink, and the denture loosens. We reline it along the way, and once healing is complete you'll have a final reline or a new denture made for your healed gums.
What to expect
- Some swelling and soreness for several days
- A denture that feels bulky at first, while you learn to speak and eat with it
- Adjustments in the first weeks as sore spots show up
- Relines as your gums shrink during healing
Immediate, or wait?
The alternative is to let your gums heal for a few months before a conventional denture is made. That gives a more precise fit from the start, but you're without teeth in the meantime. Most people choose not to wait. We'll talk through both.
Thinking about implants?
Implants can sometimes be placed the same day the teeth come out, and in suitable cases fixed provisional teeth are attached within 24 hours. If you'd rather not have a removable denture at all, ask about All-on-X dental implants.
